Calvin-40, from French robotics company Wandercraft, is a self-balancing bipedal humanoid prototype notable for its origin story — reportedly designed and built in about 40 days (hence the name), leveraging the company's decade-plus of expertise in dynamic-walking exoskeletons. Wandercraft is best known for Atalante, a self-balancing medical exoskeleton that lets paralysed patients stand and walk hands-free, and Calvin-40 applies that hard-won dynamic-balancing control to a general-purpose humanoid aimed at industrial work. It's an early demonstrator of how medical-exoskeleton IP can jump-start credible bipedal locomotion, with a follow-up humanoid ('Eve') planned.
