The Toyota T-HR3, introduced in November 2017, is Toyota's third-generation humanoid — a 1,540 mm, 75 kg, 32-DOF platform built around whole-body teleoperation with force feedback. Its defining technology is the Torque Servo Module, giving flexible, compliant joint control across 29 body points and 3 at the base, paired with force sensors at every joint. An operator wearing Toyota's Master Maneuvering System — a wearable exoskeleton rig plus a head-mounted display — moves naturally, and T-HR3 mirrors those movements in real time while transmitting the forces it feels back to the operator, enabling delicate remote manipulation. Toyota positioned it for the home, healthcare, disaster-relief and space applications, and as a platform for studying safe, smooth human-robot force interaction.
