TOSY · Humanoid · 2005
A bipedal humanoid built by Vietnamese firm TOSY to play table tennis against people, revealed at the 2007 Tokyo International Robot Exhibition and iterated through versions 1.0–3.0. Standing around 1.88 m, TOPIO used high-speed stereo vision to track the ball and neural-network learning to improve its returns, becoming one of the most recognisable demonstration humanoids of its era.
