Optimus 'Gen 2.5' (Sep 2025) was a cosmetic mid-cycle refresh of Optimus Gen 2 — the 'golden' Optimus shown serving popcorn at the Tesla Diner in Hollywood. It kept the Gen 2 body (57kg/173cm, 11-DoF hands, FSD chip) with a restyled exterior and basic voice, and expanded task capability (~800 discrete tasks vs Gen 2's ~500). Elon Musk explicitly clarified it was NOT Gen 3. It served as a bridge to the Gen 3 hands upgrade and the forthcoming V3 body.
