ROBOTIS · Humanoid · 2025
An affordable, fully open-source miniature humanoid research/education platform from ROBOTIS — the successor to the widely-used DARwIn-OP / OP2. It has 20 DYNAMIXEL XM430 actuator modules (6-DoF legs x2, 3-DoF arms x2, 2-DoF neck) with current-based control on a 4.5 Mbps bus, an OpenCR (ARM Cortex-M7) real-time controller, and an Intel NUC Core i3 with 8 GB DDR4 and an M.2 SSD for onboard compute. A 9-axis IMU (gyro/accel/magnetometer), a Logitech C920 HD camera, dual mics and a speaker handle perception. The 2025 re-release is built ground-up for ROS2, and the 1,800 mAh LiPo can be hot-swapped by plugging in external power before removal (~30 min runtime). Popular in the RoboCup humanoid leagues.
