RB-Y1

Rainbow Robotics · Humanoid · 2024

The Rainbow Robotics RB-Y1 is Korea's first bimanual mobile manipulator — a humanoid-type dual-arm system (two 7-DOF arms) mounted, via a 6-DOF single leg that raises the body more than 50 cm, on a high-speed wheeled base, for 24 total DOF under 20-axis whole-body control. Built by the KAIST-founded, publicly traded (KRX: 277810) company behind the DARPA-Challenge-winning HUBO humanoid, it reuses proven RB-cobot and AMR core components — BLDC/DC motors with harmonic-drive reducers — to deliver industrial-grade reliability rather than prototype fragility, with sub-millimetre repeatability and 3 kg payload per arm. The wheeled base travels at up to 2.5 m/s with high-speed turning and sudden acceleration stabilised by continuous centre-of-gravity control. Standing 1,400 mm tall on a 600×690 mm footprint at 131 kg, powered by a 50 V/25 Ah battery, it targets the embodied-AI era: programmed by master-slave demonstration (linking a data arm as master) with self-collision prevention, real-time teleoperation, LiDAR navigation and a simulation environment for AI learning. Rainbow positions it as a bridge between fixed cobots and full humanoids.
