PNDbotics · Humanoid · 2024
Adam is the flagship full-size humanoid from Beijing-based PNDbotics, a full-stack developer of modular humanoid platforms (project started June 2023). Standing about 1.6 m and weighing ~60 kg, Adam is driven by 25 proprietary PND quasi-direct-drive (QDD) force-controlled actuators delivering up to ~360 N·m of leg torque, and is notable as one of the first humanoids with a biomimetic pelvis for more natural, stable gait. An Intel i7 (NUC) plus PND Robot Control Unit runs a deep-reinforcement-learning and imitation-learning stack trained in NVIDIA Isaac Gym with sim-to-real transfer, giving human-like walking, terrain traversal and disturbance recovery. Its modular, standardized architecture (with an open SDK) lets developers swap actuators, end-effectors and compute. Adam has had a high-profile demo run — playing keytar live at the VOYAGEX music festival, synced dancing at WAIC 2025, and completing the 100 m obstacle race at the 2025 World Humanoid Robot Games as the only full-size humanoid to finish. Prototype pricing is around US$120,000; sibling variants include Adam Lite, Adam-U (data-collection) and Adam SP.
