Kinetix AI · Humanoid · 2026
KAI is a full-size humanoid robot from Shenzhen startup Kinetix AI (Kai Robotics), unveiled in April 2026 and aimed at retail, concierge and home-assistance roles rather than heavy industry. Its headline feature is an exceptional 115 degrees of freedom — far beyond the 20-45 typical of current humanoids — including 36-DoF dexterous hands (22 active plus 14 passive 'buffer' joints per hand) for delicate manipulation. The faceless ~1.73 m, 70 kg robot is wrapped in synthetic tactile skin with 18,000 sensing points able to detect forces as light as 0.1 N, and runs on a 1.7 kWh semi-solid-state battery for improved thermal safety. Intelligence comes from the closed-loop 'KAI World Model', trained on first-person human data captured via the company's wearable KAI Halo headset. Kinetix AI is targeting mass production by late 2026 at a price under $40,000.
