NEXTAGE

Kawada Robotics · Humanoid · 2011

NEXTAGE, from Kawada Robotics (developed out of the HRP program), is a dual-arm production humanoid designed to work alongside people on assembly and production lines. Rather than a walking biped, it's a human-upper-body form on a fixed base: two 6-DOF arms, a 2-DOF head and a 1-DOF torso (15 DOF total), with stereo cameras in its head and a camera in each hand for vision-guided precision assembly. Built for collaborative deployment in the same spaces as human workers — no fences — it targets electronics assembly, precision production, machine tending and kitting, and became one of Japan's most recognisable factory humanoids. It shares engineering DNA with the Kawada/AIST HRP walking robots but is aimed squarely at practical manufacturing. NOTE: core config from Kawada; exact per-model reach/repeatability/weight vary by NEXTAGE generation and are flagged for outreach rather than guessed.
