Kawada Robotics · Humanoid · 2011
A dual-arm humanoid cobot from Kawada Robotics designed to work safely alongside people on manufacturing lines. Every axis uses low-power actuators under 80 W so it can operate fenceless, and electromagnetic brakes between arm and shoulder keep the arms from dropping if power is lost. Each compact hand integrates cameras, lighting and a tool changer, and an integrated image-recognition system lets NEXTAGE identify its surroundings and work objects in 3D. Status is shown via bright LED indicators. The open version, NEXTAGE OPEN, runs ROS on OpenRTM-aist for research, and the platform has been continuously improved over a decade in payload, speed and vision.
