Honor · Humanoid · 2026
Lightning (闪电) is a high-speed bipedal humanoid built by Chinese smartphone maker Honor, which stunned the robotics world by winning the 2026 Beijing E-Town Humanoid Half-Marathon. Running the 21.1 km course autonomously in 50 minutes 26 seconds, it became the first humanoid to beat the human half-marathon world record (57:20); a remote-controlled Lightning finished even faster at 48:19. Standing 169 cm with an unusually long 0.95 m effective leg length and roughly 55 bionic joints concentrated in the lower body, it pairs self-developed joint modules producing up to 400 N·m of peak torque with a liquid-cooling system adapted from Honor's smartphones to shed the heat of sustained running. Its mecha-style aerodynamic body draws clear design inspiration from Agility Robotics' Cassie. Honor entered ten teams and swept all three podium places in its first-ever robotics competition.
