Honor · Humanoid · 2026
Lightning (闪电) is a high-speed bipedal humanoid from Chinese smartphone maker Honor that stunned the field by winning the 2026 Beijing E-Town Humanoid Robot Half Marathon on 19 April 2026 — completing the 21.1 km course autonomously in a net 50:26, faster than the human half-marathon world record of 57:20 (a second, remote-controlled Lightning ran 48:19). Standing 169 cm with a cool mecha-style red chassis, it uses joints rated to 400 N·m and a smartphone-derived liquid-cooling system (water-cooled motors) for sustained high-output running. Perception fuses multiple sensors including Hesai JT-series 360° LiDAR, and its brain is Honor's on-device MagicOS model paired with the YOYO agent, offering both fully-autonomous-navigation and remote-control variants. Honor built it in under a year by repurposing its phone supply chain (image-stabilisation, attitude and gyro algorithms for balance; BMS and SoC compute). It is a flagship locomotion showcase rather than a general-purpose worker.
