Honda · Humanoid · 1993
Honda's P1, developed in 1993, was the first of Honda's 'P' (Prototype) series — a large 1,915 mm, 175 kg experimental platform with 30 DOF that attached legs to a torso with two arms capable of basic tasks. Honda kept P1's existence secret until it announced the P2 in 1996. It was the tethered testbed on which Honda established the stable bipedal walking that led to P2, P3 and ultimately ASIMO. NOTE: historic entry from Honda's official robotics history — verified figures, not a datasheet.
