Fourier · Humanoid · 2025
The Fourier N1 (Nexus-01) is billed as the first fully open-source humanoid robot, launched by Shanghai-based Fourier Intelligence in April 2025 along with its complete bill of materials, CAD/STEP drawings, assembly instructions and control software on GitHub. The compact 1.3 m, 38 kg platform has 23 degrees of freedom (excluding hands) in an aluminium-alloy and engineering-plastic frame, driven by Fourier's self-developed FSA 2.0 integrated actuators delivering up to 96 N·m peak joint torque and a top running speed of 3.5 m/s. A back-mounted swappable battery gives 2+ hours of continuous operation. In validation it logged over 1,000 hours of outdoor testing — climbing 15-20° slopes and 20 cm stairs and recovering from falls. As the founding project of Fourier's 'Nexus' open-source ecosystem, the N1 is aimed at researchers, educators and developers as a low-barrier platform for embodied-AI and locomotion R&D.
