Fauna Robotics · Humanoid · 2026
Sprout, from Fauna Robotics, is a lightweight, approachable, developer-ready humanoid built to fill a specific gap: most humanoids are either closed industrial systems or hard-to-deploy academic prototypes, leaving few platforms safe and expressive enough for long-term operation around people. At just 1,070 mm and 22.7 kg with 29 DOF (6-DOF arms with floor-to-countertop reach, 5-DOF compliant legs for low-impact walking, 2-DOF neck for expressive gaze), Sprout prioritises safety and accessibility: back-drivable motors, deliberately limited joint torques, a soft deformable exterior and a dedicated safety subsystem let it work in shared human spaces — it can even be squeezed by a child's hand safely. It runs NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin compute with ZED 2i stereo vision, time-of-flight sensors, IMU and a microphone array, and sports a full-color 360° facial LED array with motorized eyebrows for social expression. Out of the box it does mapping, navigation, voice interaction, walking, kneeling, crawling, jumping, dancing and fall recovery, with integrated grippers and VR-based teleoperation in a unified hardware-software stack and swappable batteries. Fauna published a full technical report in January 2026. NOTE: all specs from Fauna's official technical report — museum-grade sourcing.
