Boston Dynamics · Humanoid · 2024
Boston Dynamics' fully-electric, 5th-generation Atlas - the production humanoid unveiled at CES 2026 and now in serial production at the company's Boston HQ. A complete redesign of the hydraulic Atlas, it uses custom electric rotary actuators, has 56 degrees of freedom with 360-degree torso and wrist rotation, stands 1.9 m / 90 kg with a 2.3 m reach, lifts up to ~50 kg (peak), and self-swaps its ~4-hour battery in under 3 minutes for near-continuous work. Physical control by Boston Dynamics is paired with Google DeepMind Gemini Robotics reasoning and Toyota Research Institute skill-learning, managed via the Orbit fleet platform. The entire 2026 run is committed to Hyundai's RMAC and Google DeepMind.
