AIST · Humanoid · 2018
The fifth-generation HRP humanoid, unveiled by AIST in 2018 as the strongest and most autonomous of the series — explicitly built to autonomously perform heavy labour and work in hazardous environments. Standing 182 cm and weighing 101 kg, it uses electric actuation with high-power, wide-range joints. In its signature demo, HRP-5P locates, lifts and carries a full gypsum drywall panel and fastens it with a power tool entirely on its own, combining environmental measurement, object recognition, whole-body motion planning and task-execution management. It is intended as an R&D platform for practical construction and industrial humanoids.
