AIST · Humanoid · 2009
Nicknamed 'Miim', HRP-4C is a feminine-looking biped humanoid unveiled by Japan's AIST in March 2009, built to the proportions of an average young Japanese woman (from the 1997–98 body-dimension database). At 158 cm and 43 kg (with battery), it uses ~44 degrees of freedom — 8 of them dedicated to facial expressions — plus speech recognition and ambient-sound recognition, and can sing using the Vocaloid synthesizer. Running on the OpenRTM-aist / OpenHRP3 platform, Miim became famous for fashion-show catwalks, dance performances and singing demonstrations, and later for 'super-realistic' human-like walking.
