AIST · Humanoid · 2002
An influential early-2000s Japanese research humanoid from the AIST-led HRP (Humanoid Robotics Project), industrialised with Kawada and Yaskawa. Roughly 1.54 m and 58 kg with 30 degrees of freedom, HRP-2 could walk on uneven ground, lie down and get back up, and became a widely used platform for bipedal locomotion and whole-body motion research. Its distinctive 'Promet' styling was designed by Yutaka Izubuchi.
