Second Viking lander, touched down at Utopia Planitia in September 1976. Identical hardware to Viking 1 with a 3-meter robotic surface sampler arm. Operated for nearly 4 years before battery failure. Landed at an 8.2° tilt with one leg on a rock after radar misidentification caused thrusters to fire briefly extra at touchdown.
