Roscosmos · Aerospace · 1973
Second Soviet lunar rover, delivered by Luna 21 on 15 January 1973. Improved on Lunokhod 1 with better cameras, faster ground-control updates, and traveled 39 km (long held the all-time off-Earth distance record until surpassed by Opportunity in 2014). Overheated and failed in May 1973 after picking up lunar dust on its solar panels.
