First Chinese lunar rover, deployed from the Chang'e 3 lander on 15 December 2013 — the first soft landing on the Moon since 1976. Suffered a mechanical failure preventing further mobility after 114 m of traverse, but continued returning scientific data from its stationary position for 31 months. Named 'Yutu' (Jade Rabbit) after the lunar companion of Chang'e in Chinese mythology.
