First lunar sample return mission since the Soviet Luna 24 in 1976. Landed in Mons Rümker region of Oceanus Procellarum on 1 December 2020, used a robotic arm and drill to collect 1.731 kg of lunar regolith, and launched it back to Earth via the ascent stage on 3 December. Samples were the youngest ever collected from the Moon (~2 billion years old), reshaping understanding of lunar volcanism.
