Unitree · Mecha · 2026
Unveiled 12 May 2026, the GD01 is Unitree's — and the world's — first mass-produced manned transformable mecha. A ~2.7 m, 500 kg high-strength-alloy machine with a roll-cage torso cockpit, it walks upright on two legs, then folds its limbs and shifts its centre of gravity to crawl as a quadruped in seconds, with no external assistance. In the reveal video, CEO Wang Xingxing piloted it as it punched through a brick wall; notably it's optionally manned (runs manned or unmanned/remote). Drawing instant Transformers/Avatar-AMP-suit comparisons, it's pitched as short-range transport, search-and-rescue and demonstration platform. From ¥3.9M (~US$574k–650k), launched alongside Unitree's Shanghai STAR Market IPO. Unitree issued a safety notice cautioning that the platform is early-stage and not for hazardous personal experimentation.
Price level: ★★★☆☆
