Shakey

SRI International · Research · 1966

The first mobile robot that could reason about its own actions (1966–72). Shakey perceived its world with a TV camera and bump sensors, planned with the STRIPS algorithm, and rerouted around obstacles — work that produced A* search, computer vision foundations and modern AI planning.
