Wingcopter · Drones · 2017
The heavy-lift version of Wingcopter's 178, reinforced with glass- and carbon-fibre layers and a more powerful propulsion system to carry heavier professional payloads and sensors while keeping high commonality with the base aircraft. Measuring 48 x 178 x 146 cm and weighing 8.4 kg empty (up to an 18 kg max takeoff weight with four batteries), it lifts up to 6 kg, flies up to ~120 minutes / 120 km (unladen) at up to 150 km/h, and in 2018 set a Guinness World Record for the fastest tilt-rotor aircraft at 240.6 km/h. It runs on 2-4 lithium-polymer packs with a rich sensor set (dual-GNSS, dual magnetometer, IMU, pitot, LiDAR altimeter, ADS-B) and triple-redundant telemetry (RC radio, 4G cellular and Iridium satellite), delivering by winch slow-drop or landing. It has flown high-profile humanitarian missions with DHL and UNICEF - vaccine and medical delivery in Vanuatu, Malawi and Tanzania.
