Wingcopter · Drones · 2017
Wingcopter's first mass-produced delivery drone and the platform that established its patented tilt-rotor design, where the same propellers hover for vertical takeoff then tilt forward for efficient fixed-wing cruise (the '178' is its 178 cm wingspan). Roughly 178 x 132 x 52 cm, it carries up to 6 kg and flies about 100 km with a 2 kg payload at up to 150 km/h, operating beyond visual line of sight. It can deliver either by winching a package down for a slow-drop without landing, or by landing to enable two-way transport of medical samples and supplies. Widely used for last-mile medical delivery as well as mapping and surveying, it laid the groundwork for the later triple-drop Wingcopter 198.
