Voliro · Drones · 2023
A purpose-built industrial-inspection drone from Voliro (an ETH Zurich spin-off) that doesn't just fly and see — it touches. Thrust-vectoring tiltable rotors give true omnidirectional (6-DoF) freedom and up to ±90-degree tilt, letting it press against vertical walls, ceilings and curved surfaces with up to 30 N of stable force (plus several Nm of torque) to 'seat' non-destructive-testing sensors for reliable coupling. Assisted autonomy handles the approach-and-touch phase even in GPS-denied spaces like tanks and boilers. Six interchangeable NDT payloads — EMAT, ultrasonic thickness, dry-film coating, pulsed-eddy-current, lightning-protection and a flammable-gas sensor — cover most inspection jobs, with live A-Scan in the Voliro app, hot-swappable self-heating batteries, and a subscription business model.
