An iconic early-1980s robotic-arm toy from Tomy that introduced a generation to robotics and mechanical engineering. Entirely mechanical — a single electric motor drives an intricate gear train — it is operated by two joysticks that command multiple simultaneous motions: base rotation, shoulder and elbow articulation, wrist rotation and a grasping claw. A built-in countdown timer challenged users to complete pick-and-place tasks, and it ran on batteries with no electronics or programming. A celebrated example of purely mechanical multi-axis control.
