LBR iiwa 14 R820

KUKA · Industrial · 2015

The KUKA LBR iiwa 14 R820 is the world's first series-produced sensitive robot — 'LBR' for Leichtbauroboter (lightweight robot), 'iiwa' for intelligent industrial work assistant — and one of the most influential research and HRC platforms ever made. Its defining feature is joint torque sensors in all seven axes, giving instant whole-arm contact detection with axis-specific torque accuracy of ±2% of maximum torque, so it can perform force-controlled contour-finding, delicate joining and compliant insertion without crushing or shearing hazards, fenceless, certified to PL d Cat. 3. The 14 kg / 820 mm redundant 7-axis arm weighs 29.9 kg, carries IP54 sealing, mounts in any orientation, and routes pneumatic and electrical supply internally to a DIN ISO 9409-1-50-7-M6 media flange. It runs from the KUKA Sunrise Cabinet, programmed in Java via Sunrise.Workbench or by hand guiding — and its 1 kHz Fast Robot Interface (FRI) made it the de-facto standard arm for robotics-research labs worldwide. A 7 kg / 800 mm sibling (LBR iiwa 7 R800) shares the platform.
