Howe & Howe · Disaster Response · 2020
The Thermite RS3 (Howe & Howe / Textron Systems) is a heavy industrial firefighting robot - a low-center-of-gravity, wide-chassis tracked vehicle weighing ~1,600 kg. It flows up to 2,500 gpm (9,500 L/min), withstands surface temperatures to ~900°C with track/vehicle cooling sprayers, runs ~20 hours per fuel load, and can push cars and debris. In 2020 the LAFD became the first US fire department to operationally deploy a firefighting robot with the RS3.
