General Dynamics Land Systems · Military · 2022
General Dynamics Land Systems' medium-class tracked unmanned ground vehicle, unveiled at AUSA 2021 and entered as GDLS's contender in the US Army's Robotic Combat Vehicle (RCV) program. As its name suggests, the TRX is designed around a 10-ton class: roughly a 5-ton curb weight plus up to a 5-ton payload on a flat modular deck. Because there's no crew to armour, it uses lightweight materials and a hybrid-electric drive that lowers its thermal signature, enables near-silent running and powers onboard electronics, while keeping pace with fast Armoured Brigade Combat Teams. Its open, payload-agnostic architecture lets the Army swap mission modules quickly, and it's built for manned-unmanned teaming as a 'wingman' to crewed vehicles. Derived from GDLS's MUTT program, published mission roles include tactical resupply, counter-UAS/short-range air defence, obstacle breaching, indirect fire, electronic warfare and ISR; a SHORAD variant can autonomously launch and recover small UAS.
