A set of three small, autonomous animatronic alien creatures (the avian Vyloo from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2) from Walt Disney Imagineering's 'Automatronics' / Autonomous Characters research — among Disney's first park animatronics that actually respond to and interact with guests rather than looping a scripted show. Perched on a self-contained log/pod in the queue of Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: BREAKOUT! at Disney California Adventure, each Vyloo has its own personality driven by decision-making algorithms (how long to hold eye contact, how fast to turn its head, whether to 'fall asleep'). Cameras and sensors let them track whether guests look at or talk to them and follow people with their gaze, conveying mood through simple 'squash-and-stretch' gestures, head cocks and kissy faces. Everything runs onboard, making them unusually modular. First shown ~2018 under the project name 'Tiny Life'.
