Boston Dynamics · Humanoid · 2013
The original hydraulic Atlas (2013) was built by Boston Dynamics for the DARPA Robotics Challenge - a 1.88 m, ~150 kg hydraulically actuated humanoid for disaster-response research. Successive versions grew dramatically more agile (parkour, backflips) before the hydraulic Atlas was retired in 2024 in favour of the all-electric Atlas.
