Chuck

6 River Systems (Ocado Group) · Industrial · 2018

Chuck, from 6 River Systems, is a person-to-goods autonomous mobile robot (AMR) built for e-commerce order fulfillment — it works alongside human pickers, shuttling totes and containers and intelligently guiding workers through pick paths to cut walking distance and lift productivity. It carries up to 90.7 kg, drives at up to 1.3 m/s, and measures 1067×600×1600 mm at 75 kg, using 3D SLAM for accurate localisation with 2D-plus-3D front obstacle detection and cloud-based fleet software that groups orders to maximise task density. An integrated touchscreen and globally-recognised status lighting speed operator training, and cloud updates let the fleet improve continuously without physical infrastructure changes. Co-founded by former Kiva Systems (now Amazon Robotics) executives, 6RS was acquired by Shopify and later by Ocado Group. It's CE/TÜV/UL-1740 certified and won two Red Dot design awards. RECATEGORISATION FLAG: this is an AMR, not a collaborative arm — recommend moving to an AGV/AMR or Service/Delivery category; sub updated to 'Fulfillment AMR' pending Shane's category decision.
